7Help with resumes, job searches and small business research

Looking for work can be stressful, and libraries often have resources to make it easier. Many offer resume reviews, mock interviews, job search workshops and computer classes, along with online tools for building resumes and practicing interview questions. Staff can also help with online applications if computers aren't your strong suit.

If you're starting or running a small business, ask about business databases. Some libraries provide market research, industry reports and company directories that would be costly to access on your own. Librarians can help you find information about competitors and potential customers, and some branches host small business workshops or networking events.

These services are usually free for anyone with a card. Call ahead or check the events calendar, since workshops and one-on-one appointments may fill up. Even if you don't need formal help, the library can be a calm place to fill out applications away from the distractions of home.
