2Read your declarations page line by line
The declarations page is a summary of your policy. It lists your coverages, limits, deductibles, vehicles, drivers and the premium for each piece. Most insurers let you download it from your online account. It is the single most useful document you have when reviewing your insurance, yet many people have never read it closely.
Go through it slowly. Confirm that every vehicle listed is one you still own and that each driver still lives with you and uses your cars. Check that your address is correct, since where a car is garaged can affect your price. Note any optional coverages, such as rental reimbursement or roadside assistance, and ask yourself whether you still want them.
Keep this page handy for the rest of your renewal checklist. It becomes your reference point when you compare quotes, because it lets you request the exact same coverage from other companies. Without it, you might end up comparing a cheaper policy that quietly offers less protection.
