7Add-ons tucked inside your other bills
Not every forgotten subscription has its own separate charge. Some live inside bills you already pay, such as your phone, internet, cable or insurance statements. Device protection plans, premium channel packages, equipment rentals and extra lines can stay on the bill long after they're needed.
Read through a full statement for each of these services line by line, not just the total. Look for items you don't recognize, equipment you returned or replaced, and promotional periods that ended and switched to full price. Bills can be confusing, so don't hesitate to call the provider and ask what each charge is for.
While you're on the phone, ask whether there's a lower-cost plan that fits how you use the service today. Providers sometimes have options they don't advertise widely. Once you've cleaned things up, make a simple list of every recurring charge in your household and review it a few times a year so new add-ons don't sneak back in.
